The Disney animation is an adventure of the young lion Simba, the heir of his father, Mufasa. Simba’s uncle, Scar, plots to usurp Mufasa’s throne by luring father and son into a stampede of wildebeests. But Simba escapes, and only Mufasa is killed. Simba returns as an adult to take back his homeland from Scar with the help of his friends Timon and Pumbaa.
The Lion King being one of the biggest animated films of all time has grossed $968.8 million at the box office since it was originally released in 1994.
It won a raft of awards for its musical score, including Academy Awards for the original song ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’ (Elton John, Tim Rice) and original score (Hans Zimmer), plus two Grammy Awards, with the soundtrack selling over 14 million copies. Importantly, it’s also become a children’s television show with James Earl Jones’ returning to the role as Mufasa.
Fans were at first unsure at the news that the classic animation would get a remake, raising concerns over whether it can improve on the original. The good news is, it will hit your screens soon. After careful deliberation and planning, the Disney team finally reached a conclusion namely: The Lion King returns in a grand style.
You have a little bit of a wait as the movie is out on July 19, 2019.
